Late afternoon over the Humber.

This painting was done near north ferriby ;the colours in the sky were very striking and it seemed very difficult to capture the many variable hues in the way I wished. This challenge entailed using a large brush and blending many colours together thinning with turpentine often. The colours used were ultramarine vermilion raw sienna burnt umber cadmium orange cadmium yellow ,additionally Prussian green was used for the lower part of the sky.
Oil on canvas 24″ by 20″,priced at £100.
Striking clouds over the humber

I could not have wished for a more wintry late afternoon and green is not a colour some people might associate with the sky but it can sometimes appear so ;I determined to explore whether a sort of muted green turning to brown here and there would work and capture what I wished. The clouds were often of a jagged like appearance.
Painted in oil with greenish frame and priced at £110.

Sombre sky
Disappearing cottage at Aldbrough.

Commenced painting at roughly 12 noon and set my easel up roughly halfway down a cliff face. The North sea had taken on an amazing white light brown appearance with cobalt green and bluish hues in the distance ,a cottage could just be seen peeping over the top of the cliff which has since vanished due to coastal erosion.Painting time took approximately 2 hours, using oil paint. Small canvas and price if wishing to purchase is £160.
