This painting was done near north ferriby ;the colours in the sky were very striking and it seemed very difficult to capture the many variable hues in the way I wished.This challenge entailed using a large brush and blending many colours together thinning with turpentine often.The colours used were ultramarine vermilion raw sienna burnt umber cadmium orange cadmium yellow ,additionally Prussian green was used for the lower part of the sky.
