Greg Jones: Artist and musician

Painting

Greg Jones is a self-taught artist who has had a strong interest in all forms of art (especially painting) from an early age. With a lifetime of honing and practicing his craft behind him, and with his keen eye and through his use of vibrant colours and evocative brushwork, Greg’s paintings are able to conjure-up for the viewer memories of summer days spent in the garden, of walking through golden autumn leaves, and frosty mornings. Whilst Greg often works from his own photographs he prefers wherever and whenever possible to create his art (be it painting with acrylics, oil or watercolour) in-situ.

Greg is an avid member of both the ‘Hull Art Circle’ and ‘East Riding Artists’.

Greg the piano player

Greg’s interest in jazz goes back a long way, the improvisational and harmonic elements found within jazz (and classical music) have always held a fascination for him, and because of this he has worked hard at developing and refining his own individual piano style over many years. Greg’s influences are wide and varied, but most often when at home (and as a yardstick) he listens regularly to household immortals such as Oscar Peterson, Art Tatum, and Bill Evans… Visit Gregs’ music page to hear him playing a selection of his favourite tunes.
